Susie Jordan’s journey into the field of Applied Behavior Analysis began during her undergraduate studies, when she responded to a university posting seeking support for the son of a Naval officer. What started as a part-time job quickly became a life-changing experience. Susie formed a strong connection with the family and, when the father received orders to relocate to San Diego, she made the move with them—committed to continuing her work with their child and furthering her career in the field.

In San Diego, Susie joined the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), where she worked for over 12 years under the direct mentorship of renowned autism expert Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh. Starting as a junior therapist, she advanced to the role of Senior Clinician, gaining expertise in a wide range of treatment models and supervising large teams. She was particularly drawn to serving underserved and remote communities, and in her role as a Workshop Supervisor, Susie helped launch ABA programs for families across the U.S., Canada, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates.

Susie went on to earn her Master’s in Counseling Psychology and later pursued her BCBA certification through the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). In 2009, Susie joined her mentor and began her 13 year career at Comprehensive Autism Center (CAC)—one of Southern California’s first center-based ABA clinics. Driven by her passion for growing the field, Susie led a groundbreaking initiative by partnering with FIT to create a satellite training site. This hybrid program allowed employees to complete their BCBA coursework while gaining hands-on supervision and training directly from Susie while learning from their onsite professor.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, Susie and her family made the difficult decision to leave California and return to her roots near Charlottesville, Virginia, where her extended family has lived for generations. Now the founder and Clinical Director of Blue Ridge Autism Care, Susie brings over three decades of experience, a deep commitment to family-centered care, and a strong belief in the power of individualized, high-quality ABA services.

Blue Ridge Autism Care was established in 2023 to fill a growing need in Central Virginia for ethical, high-quality, and relationship-driven ABA services. Built on the belief that meaningful progress happens through consistency, expertise, and trust, our practice focuses on direct service by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) who work closely with families every step of the way.

From the beginning, our goal has been simple: to create a small, locally grounded practice where children are not just numbers on a caseload—and where families feel truly supported. By choosing to operate without behavior technicians or large teams, we’re able to provide a more intimate and effective experience for each client.

We serve families across Fluvanna, Albemarle, Louisa County, and Gordonsville, bringing ABA support to communities that are often underserved. Our team is guided by evidence-based practice, cultural humility, and a deep respect for the individual strengths of every child we support.

As we grow, our commitment remains the same:

  • Direct BCBA-led therapy with a personal touch
  • Collaborative relationships with caregivers
  • Transparent, honest communication
  • A strong connection to our local community

Blue Ridge Autism Care isn’t part of a national chain or investor-backed group—we’re here because we care deeply about families in this region. That’s why we keep our focus on quality, not quantity.
